Background
- 2002–2005: Vice Chancellor’s Postdoctoral Fellow, University of New South Wales.
- 2004 (July–Dec): Guest scientist, Max Planck Institute, Stuttgart, Germany.
- 2001–2002: Anglo Australian Postdoctoral Fellow, University of Birmingham, UK.
Research interests
Julie’s research interests focus on the relationship between microstructure and properties of materials, with particular emphasis on the application and development of new characterisation techniques.
Characterisation techniques include:
- Atom Probe Tomography (APT)
- Focused Ion Beam (FIB) Techniques
- Energy Dispersive X-ray (EDX) Analysis
- Electron Backscatter Diffraction (EBSD)
- 3D FIB Tomography (including 3D FIB-EBSD)
- Nanoindentation
- Mechanical Testing
Current materials of interest include steels, non-ferrous engineering alloys, hard coatings, thin films, nanostructured materials, intermetallics and thermal barrier coatings.
