What is the TSP?
The TSP allows the Faculty of Science to design a program around the needs of talented students. Some students are able to enrol in subjects or in combinations of subjects not normally available within the degree.
The Talented Student Program is a special program of study intended for students of exceptional merit who are enrolled in degrees administered by the Faculty of Science including:
- Bachelor of Science (Advanced and specialist streams)
- Bachelor of Medical Science
- Bachelor of Information Technology
- Bachelor of Computer Science & Technology (and Advanced)
- Bachelor of Psychology
- Bachelor of Liberal Studies (science component)
- Combined degrees (science component)
If other Faculties grant permission, the TSP is available for science components that are part of other degrees.
An additional option for undergraduate students
The Electron Microscope Unit is a group of multidisciplinary scientists who are offering a variety of TSP projects to students. All projects utilise advanced instrumentation located at Unit, and provide undergraduates with a rare opportunity to carry out cutting-edge research.
We offer Physical Sciences Projects and Life Sciences & Other Projects, but you are also welcome to create your investigation. Come and talk to us about projects matching your interests. Limited positions are available for each semester.

A TSP Student project feature
In 2007, undergraduate student William Meere has conducted his work Development of Atom Probe Specimen Preparation Technique for Ti6Al4V at the EMU.
