Image Visualisation & Data Analysis

The Unit has a range of software packages that can be used for the visualisation and analysis of both images and data collected from its instrumentation. This is an area that is being actively expanded.

Image Analysis
The Unit has several image analysis packages eg Soft Imaging Systems analySIS, Zeiss KS-400, Zeiss Axiovision. Most digital images can be imported into these systems where routine and complex measurements can be performed.

3D Visualisation
3D datasets collected from some of the Units instruments eg Micro-CT and confocal microscopes can be visualised in volume rendering software. Stunning 3D visualisations and movies as well as measurements are possible.

Offline processing of SPM, Atom Probe, XRD data

Data and images collected on most of the instruments within the Unit can be processed offline. General image processing and data analysis software is available eg Adobe Photoshop, SAS JMP etc as well as dedicated software for Atom Probe (IVAS, PoSAP); SPM (SPIP) and XRD data.
