Scientific Program

Our Organising Committee has put together a well-balanced selection of plenary talks and invited speakers sessions. The symposium will focus on the interdisciplinary topic of microscopy and microanalysis. It will include a combination of contemporary research topics ranging from technical developments in microscopy, for example in micro and nano-scale tomography in the physical and biological sciences, to applied microscopy in fields as diverse as advanced materials, cancer research, tissue engineering and archeology. A number of perspective talks will cover the impact and applications of microscopy and microanalysis in past, present and future.

Networking opportunities

Symposium registration includes the Golden Jubilee Networking Luncheon in the University of Sydney's Great Hall, which will be is the official commemorative event for the EMU's golden jubilee year. This event will feature the symposium’s plenary lectures by Prof. Wolfgang Baumeister and Dr Thomas Kelly.

Also on this occasion, Professor Don Nutbeam, Provost and Deputy Vice-Chancellor of the University of Sydney, will officially launch the EMU’s history book ‘50 Great Moments, Celebrating the Golden Jubilee of the University of Sydney’s Electron Microscope Unit’.
